Conversation at Midnight
It was one o’clock in the morning. The family had just returned after a family dinner. Hubby is sloshed with two drinks down. Mom and son are not sleepy at all. They had slept like logs for good three hours on a lazy Saturday afternoon, while hubby was getting all the plumbing jobs and maintenance work done. Son came to the family area and found mom watching t.v. and he suggested “Mamma, let’s have a conversation.”
Mom: Sure honey. What would you like to talk about?
Son: So Mama did you have a nice time at masi’s place?
Mom: Of course I did. It was great.
Son: I hope you did not get bored.
Mom: Of course not. It was at my sister’s place. And the whole family was there, including your grandparents. In fact I could hardly pay any attention to you. I hope you enjoyed.
Son: Of course I did. I had a great time with my sisters. Bro was busy with his older cousins. But the three of us had a nice time.
After a minute’s pause
Son: Mama, did you have your dinner? I did not see you eating. You fed me and after that I got busy watching the Animal planet. You know Mama they were showing monkeys and chimps today.
Mom: Thanks so much for asking. That’s very thoughtful on your part. I am glad you enjoyed watching animal planet.
Son: Do you think I was a good boy tonight at Masi’s place?
Mom: Over all you were a very good boy. Just that I wish you stop saying ‘Shut Up’ to everybody.
Son: Yeah Mama. That wasn’t nice. Yeh maine theek nahin kiya.
Mom: I am glad you realise your mistake and I hope you don’t repeat them again.
Son: I shall try Mama. ‘Shut up, shut up’. Good night. Sleep tight.
