Darling Damsel

For past many months I have been trying to wheedle my preschooler to transition out from the crib to a normal bed. All our life together, which would be last three and a half years, all the battles of innocence and actuality have been bargained with reason. I am never afraid of her climbing out but every night it’s a quandary for me to fence her in as, seeing such prudence, I feel she should have every opportunity to come out or go in the bed when she feels right. But every time I brought the subject, she would say I love my crib. So past many weeks we have been having conversations about how she is growing up and can do things independently. And tonight was the big night, she is sleeping in the toddler bed and will be waking up in a place where she can open her room’s door and come to Mamma & Daddy for the morning hug 🙂

Growing up is a very hard thing to do and its such a pleasure and pain for parents to witness the childhood unfolding and becoming a person who is trying to fit in the expectations of the world.

I am going through the same transition now, preparing for baby number two. Its just been two days and both days I have brought the babe in with me to the Big Bed. You are right about growing up being a hard thing! It is…and you see so much of it in a three year old.

Hey, Pry I like your comment. Sands, all the best on this transition – sometimes they love it and sometimes they keep coming to Mom and Dad as far as I know. Some people ae very strict but I dont really think thats right.

pry, it reminds me of my brother, he has two daughters, one is mom’s girl and other is dad’s girl and they both sleep with each of their fan in each of their room. Friends keep teasing my sis in law and brother and asking “when r u leaving for vacation without them”. 🙂 Parenting puts everything at back burner I guess.

Mi girls slept with my Mom for the longest time, then Ileana, my oldest chose her bedroom, when she was 7 or 8 , and ashley did the same thing about the same age. My mom misses those days!!
