Diwali or Deepawali is perhaps the most beautiful of Hindu festivals in India. Diwlai signifies the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, the king of Lanka. Also Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi is worshipped in every household.
Vareity of food is cooked, relished and gifted to near and dear ones. People light candles and oil lampsto decorate their homes and offices.Some of us do Rangolis in front of the entrance of the house.
People irrespective of all ages love to do fireworks in Kalipujo and Diwali night. Always buy new cotton clothes during the Diwalifireworks, hair should be neat and tightly tied, any synthetic material in the body can be dangerous in this night. Try to wear shoes, not the sandals during the fireworks.
Cookdelicious foods but stay healthy,avoid butter or ghee, instead put some margarines or olive oil as medium of cooking.
In this festive mood we always love to eat so many sweets, but if you are suffering from High blood Sugar or BP is high, avoid much sweets, instead you can eat some sweets which are less calorie(diabetes Sandesh ).
Here is A Sample of menu which can relish your tongue as well as you will remain fit and healthy. Enjoy these days with Delicious foods.
Paneer Paratha-1( it can be done with little oil in a frying pan), paneer can be made from non fat milk.
Stir fried vegetables(all the green , red and yellow vegetables fried with margarine)
Laddu( without ghee)-1
Coffee (with creamer, no sugar added)-1 cup
Masala dosa- 1(potatoes less , vegetables most) or Idli-2
Sambar(with less oil and spices)- 1 serving
Kheer(made from 1 % milk, less sugar) -1 serving
Pea samosa- 2
Chatni(less sugar, with tamarind and coriander leaf)- 1 spoon
Kaju Borfhi or Kaju katli -1
Masala tea( less sugar and less fat milk)- 1 cup
Vegetable Biriyani/ Chicken Biriyani(made with less oil and ghee)- 2 servings
Cauliflower Roast (with margarine and salt and pepper)- 2 florets
Turkey kabob/ Chicken kabob ( you can always grill with lime juice) – 2-3 pieces
Gravy fish(fish of less oil and the gravy can be done with tomatoes and little onions, cooked in olive oil)- 1
Mishti Doi (made with non fat condensed milk)- 2 servings
Gulabjamun / Chandrapuli- 1
Last but not the least serve a Mishti pan with elaichi, saunff, supari and little bit of masala.
