Howdy Moms,

Having a good day? I had a great day and I have my buddy Daisy and shopping to thank:-)
Well....I would not really say “shopping” with an aim to buy something specific....oh well maybe socks for “Elvis” my 4 yr old son. The shopping for socks turned into stumbling on treasure for me. In layman's terms that means I found stuff I didn't even know I wanted (wanted NOT needed) pay attention ladies.
So the treasure I found was a pair of crystal candle stands that had my name written all over it in bold AND flashing. I looked at them and was in love. Be still my beating heart.

See my will power,I didnt pick them up immediately. I took myself around the store once and came back to them just to calm myself down. Then I picked up the candle stands and went for another stroll with them in my basket for a second opinion, from Daisy. As you know Daisy and I are best friends and think alike. (Pls see older posts to wipe that confused look from your faces dear ladiezz :-)

Ok....so my love for the CS (and very pretty ones at that) had increased not decreased....and that was a sure sign that they were meant for me. However, only one test stood between me and the CS. Yes, the really difficult one which says that if you love something a lot let it go and if it comes back to you its yours something something. Well....in this case it meant that if someone else bought them, I would resign to my fate. It did help that it was 10am and no human traffic.

As difficult as it was....I put the candlestands back from where I had picked em up and left. I went and did some more boring shopping read socks in the store and then came back. Lo and behold.....the CS were still in the place I had left them. It was meant to be. WE were meant to be. They belonged in my house over the mantelpiece. I had a already justified the price at first sight. I really did NEED them. What if the light ever went out and I stumbled in the dark and broke my foot. Wouldn't that cost more to fix than the candlestands?
There.....the deal was sealed and the Candlestands and I walked hand in hand (literally) to the sales clerk “-)))

Hiya Gals,

I finally got to see the “Inception” last night ( their credit card machine was still down BUT I used my kidneys (another name for brain...duh) this time and took the all might cash for the ticket) And even laughed the a party of people who were turned away because they had no cash.....hahaha. (see my post of yesterday as to why I laughed at them)

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the movie. There were times during the movie I wanted to stand up and clap wildly like a madwoman. Had I been I Delhi, I probably would have done it cause there would be others just like me there whistling or commenting or clapping. It never was a problem there. People understood that some people just HAD to physically get up and shout and clap if they liked something.
I remember the time when the movie “Beta” had just been released and there was this song in it called “Ek do teen..”. I remember people actually throwing coins at the screen and dancing in the aisle. It was one big party. I would have joined them except I was with my cousins and more importantly my elder brother who would not have liked to see his sister dance like Anil Kapoor. So I joined those people in spirit only (and I don't mean hooch)

I say Kudos to whoever wrote the screenplay for Inception. They have a very fertile imagination and I say it in a good way. If there is someone out there who can take me to the world of Dreams....I say sign me up. I tried hard all night to dream about a vacation in Europe without the kids whining and guess what.....NO LUCK. I will try again tonight though I have a feeling it might not work. I probably need some of that stuff they were sniffing right before dreaming. Again ...where do I sign up:-)

Hey Gals,

Hope you had a great weekend!! My weekend was uneventful. I tried seeing the movie “Inception” but was turned away at the box office. No, not cause I'm underage (I wish) but cause I had no cash. In a society where credit is king, I was surprised at their insistence on cash. But fear not....King Credit is still alive and thriving and kicking (in the wrong places). It seems that their credit card machine was down and could only take cash. Phewww....for a while I thought the world was changing on me :-)

I remember the time when I was a newbie to this country and insisted on dealing ONLY in cash and believed that credit was The devil ( a concept drilled in me by my family and society in general in India ) I would think thrice before buying anything of want (not need.....now need could include cosmetics and perfume for many :-)) only cause my mind was busy converting the mighty dollar into rupees. The clerk at the counter would have to snatch the money from my hand ( much like in a comedy movie) because of my reluctance to part with it.
The cash took a back seat to credit card when while doing touristy stuff in NYC, I accidentally left my handbag at a restaurant and returned later to retrieve it only to find all my precious cash missing. OH NO....that was a catastrophe! If only I had bought those expensive shoes in the bustling NYC shop, at least I would be in possession of a lovely pair of boots rather than a hundred some dollars down. Soon after I started to be drawn to Credit cards. At least they were not nearly as unfaithful as cash, buying a complete stranger a new pair of boots rather than its original owner...ME.

I have rarely come across anyone now who deals exclusively in cash. Good for me.....cause as foolish as it might sound.....I can buy something expensive on credit but have a problem paying for it in cash. Maybe that is a problem...maybe that is why we as a society are in the mess that we are in. Maybe cash is King after all and we just don't know its worth. Maybe what we are teaching or passing on to our children is not really correct. Who is to say? But one word of caution.....cash or credit,do keep your handbag really close when traveling in NYC :-)
