This is from Orissa State in India. its a beautiful dance.I am from Kerala. Our State dance is Mohiniyattam which is similar to this one but the dress is white and gold.I will post a Mohiniyattan dance clip soon.
It is from Orissa, as Priya says. It is a very graceful form of Indian dance with fluid hand movements and facial expressions that are meant to convey emotions and a story. It is a derivative of another form of Indian dance called Bharatnatyam.
Yes both responders are correct it is odissi dance from the state of orissa. it is not derivative of bharatnatyam, but one of the many styles of indian classical dance in india. the dancer is the lead in her field, sujata mohapatra. She is currently a teacher at srjan and has performed all over the world.
