The mother, newborn

Hello everyone. I am delighted to announce that I am now the mom of a new baby boy. And delighted with my growing family.

I dont have much time to write, as I dont have any help this time and my two boys keep me on my toes. But I had completely forgotten the newborn stage, and mothering a new babe and the three year old, who now wants to be a new babe is taking me to depths and crests of motherhood I did not know.

Things I forgot –

  • that I have to wake up the babe at night every four hours. I let him sleep for six a couple of times.
  • That their heads are so wobbly. I have picked the poor babe in a preschooler hold a couple of times
  • How cute and small newborn hands and legs and babies are
  • That the number of times and quantity of baby poop assumes so much significance
  • That I really am a bad burper

Things I remembered

  • They are so helpless, and you feel so protective
  • The number of times you have to wash hands
  • The way your heart fills with joy to see the baby that was in you so long

More later. Hope all of us get some sleep!

Malini, thanks for your wishes. My son likes the idea of being a big brother but I think its still stressful to him. He has been really nice and adoring to the baby – but otherwise acting up like refusing his naps and fusiing about his eating. I guess it takes time to adjust to the sharing of attention.
