The unsocial networker

Seriously, my dad today send me an invite for yet another social network.  I was kind of curious to see what my dad put in his profile, so I signed up. That brings the number of networks I am  a part of to five. One for my kids, one for my country, one for my dad, one for my office. Maybe that is average or less. I dont think its more!

Now some of these sites have helped me get in touch with long lost friends for which I am so grateful. But it comes at a cost – there are few friends and acquaintances in my past I had been only too happy to have lost touch with. That gossip in college. A competitive snoop in school. Now years have mellowed all that, so what do you do when you receive a friend request from them? Can you really turn them down? I didnt have the guts so now I am friends with them too, which means that if they want, they can follow a lot about my life.

And what about those who visit your profile everyday, and whom you hardly know? They can read your messages and view photos on some sites. What do you do about them?

So as you may guess I am still undecided about the sites, but have jumped onthe bandwagon to see where it takes me.

And it does feel good to say I have a hundred ‘friends’!

I know the feeling Dora! Geee,Im in Facebook, blogger, flickr, .mac, twitter. Sometime I feel this is becoming lke a full time job. When I put photos, I put them in .mac, flickr and facebook, because I have family member on all those networks. Then I have my blog, and when people leave comments I go and answer them. But at the end, I notice that I’m having fun. Sometimes its funny to say, but I feel a stronger bonding with my virtual friends than with the day to day ones.

The friends that you said dont like so much , just dont answer them in a timely manner… after several times they’ll get the hint.

About the photos, I never show pictures of my house and I never reveal what city I live in in my profile just to avoid the wierdos on the Internet.
