Gauri, welcome. I will suggest just start giving him bits of his favorite foods to eat on his own. Start with finger food – lke you said, small pieces of roti or grapes cut into smaller pieces or even some sweet. Then if he likes that, slowly start graduating

Hi Gauri! Welcome to the site. Can he eat maybe crackers or something like that on his own? Otherwise that can be a start. Some preschools have a menu they serve kids every month. You can ask the play school he will go to on what they will serve. If not, if you are going to give him food, you can start serving the same kind of packed lunch food at the same time. Once he is used to it, start leaving small pieces for him as you do work around the house. If he doesnt eat, dont worry, just let him sit with it. If he does try, encourage him by clapping etc. My son also would not eat much in the begining but as he saw other kids in school, he learnt to eat better.

Gauri, I know it is difficult not to worry, but even if you wait till he joins, he may see others and learn. This happens very often. Otherwise, avoid trying when he is cranky or very hungry. Start with the snack time – some small food like banana etc which he used to eat mashed maybe. Let me know if you have any other concerns.

HELLO. I’M A FIRST TIME MOTHER. SHE’LL BE 2 IN OCTOBER. SHE WENT FROM EATING ALL THE TIME & A VARIETY OF FOOD AS WELL. NOW SHES NOT EATING AT ALL. HER DRINKING HABBITS ARE REAL GOOD SO I’M NOT WORRIED ABOUT DEHYDRATION. SO OF COURSE I’M WORRIED. JUST LOOKING FOR ADVISE. THANKS.

Hi, MJWAGNER. I have heard this happens to toddlers a lot. After ruling out obvious signs of illness etc, try to watch her over a week. Is she eating a variety of foods over the week – maybe only milk one day and fruits another etc. Also sometimes docs say not to give too much milk. If she is eating nothing at all best to ask the doctor, usually its nothing to worry about but isnt it better to hear from the doc?

Hi mj ,i think it`s just a phase that will soon pass, because toddlers don`t stick to one thing for a long time..how many days has this been going on?may be right now all she likes is to drink, sometimes a toddler does what other children do,
